We are Local Union Number 31 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada, AFL-CIO.
We are the skilled stagehands who work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry every day.
We specialize in stage rigging, theatrical set construction, and the installation and operation of video, lighting, and sound systems in virtually any type of venue.

We provide a dedicated team of professionals to load in, staff, and takedown your large event.

Our team of certified riggers ensures your event equipment is safely suspended from the structure.

Our dedicated technicians ensure your event is perfect. From small meetings to large conferences, we specialize in events just like yours.

When you need your event setup quickly and accurately we provide hundreds of hands.
IATSE Local 31 represents the skilled technicians behind live entertainment and events across the greater Kansas City region. Our members are stagehands, riggers, electricians, audio and video technicians, carpenters, and production specialists who build, operate, and maintain the systems that make performances possible.
Our crews hang motors in arenas, light concert stages, mix audio, build scenery for touring shows, and wire temporary power for festivals. We work theaters, concerts, corporate events, trade shows, conventions, television, film, and every production space that demands safety, craft, and reliability.
Local 31 has served Kansas City since 1887. We cover western Missouri and Eastern Kansas and maintain over 500 trained individuals ready to deploy on productions from intimate theater to arena-scale events.
We train continuously, mentor intentionally, and provide union protections that ensure fair wages, health benefits, and retirement security. When venues and producers call Local 31, they’re hiring crews who know the work, follow safety protocols, and deliver on tight timelines.
